Not only was I right about the video iPod, but my goodness, you can buy tv shows from the Music Store now… my digital life is almost complete. Lets hope that the catalog of shows grows quickly.

I wonder if they’ll get licensing permissions from the film industry to start selling movies.
Well, I suppose it’s not a matter of wondering, but more of “when”.

Buying TV shows from Music Store is just very cool.
I like how Apple reduced the thickness of the iPod, but for some reason, I’m not liking the screen. =/

The idea of paying a small per-episode fee to get TV shows off the Internet is terrific. Unfortunately, Apple’s implementation here is about as interesting as the ROKR they introduced at the last event.
1. The videos are, what, 320x240? That’s way too crappy to play full-screen on my iMac or on a TV.
2. The selection is almost a joke. They never would have opened the music store with such slim pickings.
3. $2 per episode is too much when you take quality, portability, and the price of competing DVDs into account.
If they were offering HDTV videos for $1 that you could burn to DVD, they’d be on the right track.
I’m glad I got a 4G iPod a few weeks ago. It has nice features like Firewire that are apparently too advanced for Apple’s new, dumbed down PC audience.

I read on Gruber’s site that the video is only 320x240 px size! Why oh why? They could’ve least have gone with 400x300 or 512x384 px…

Yes Joen that is correct. I am going to write a scathing post to rescend my earlier enthusiasm as soon as I can. I am not pleased with Apple’s decision at this moment, if it was an Apple decision and not one pushed by the studios.

My own take on this is that it’s a stopgap solution for Apple. They’ve released what people have been waiting for in time for the gift-giving season, but have given us an iPod that also plays video rather than a dedicated video device, which I believe we’ll see next year. Without investing too much on research and development, they can get customer feedback and reaction to enable them to fine tune the ‘real thing’. Smart thinking in my opinion, but only if they actively listen to and incorporate comments such as those on this page.
