JoshuaInk, how we miss you

John Oxton

This morning while catching up on my cadre of blogs I discovered that John Oxton has left our midst.

John is an incredible designer and a hella nice guy, and we will miss his humour, design sensibilities and foul language very much.  I hope that you can find the peace and quiet you are seaking, and if there is any place a man can find that, it is in the beauty of the Cottswalds.

Stay well John, and we wait for your return.

Sad times when a good site run by a good guy slips away for a bit, however, I figure that John has his reasons (which he states above) and more power to you John, it’s better to clear away the muck and give yourself a clear path to muddle through.

Also, it’s rumored that John constantly has the fragrance of flowers following him, so it’s only a matter of time before he realizes that and eventually runs through the hills singing the “Hills are Alive”.

In the mean time, we’ll miss you John, or I know I will. I hope, in all this, you can find clarity and a sense of well meaning.

That’s a shame. I really like reading the site (not heavy on the commenting, but loved reading it). Take care, something tells me you’ll be back sooner rather than later.

Aw, he’ll be back! There have been similar periods of absence on Joshuaink. I’m concerned about the reason behind it this time, though. Hope everything works out in the end for him!

    John,
As much as we’ll all miss your daily musings, I think we’ll all in agreement when we say that you should take as long as you need. Hope you find a little of that peace and quiet that you’re looking for.

Take your time and be strong John.

Can’t wait till you get back.

    Bummer.

I’d only just discovered joshuaink not long ago. John, your frequent, well-written, often amusing posts were a highlight for me.

Hope all gets well soon. This may sound like a broken record bye now, or insincere, but I will miss you.

Hi, well, I’ve already posted my main comment on Jon Hicks site - but it won’t hurt to post here too will it?

Yes, I will miss posting comments on John’s site (although most of what I put was complete tosh - and who’s gonna miss that really?!) - sincerely though: there are more important things than the web and blogging, and John deserves all the time he needs to deal with his grief.

    My deepest regards,

    Matt

Hey Guys, I am touched and grateful for your concern! I have just been speaking to Jon Hicks about all of this and what it boils down to is I need a little time to work out how I am feeling, because at this stage I am just not sure — really a very odd feeling in itself.

I am still gonna be prowling around though enjoying everyone else’s work, maybe I could do charity rants in comments for y’all! :)

What a lovely bunch of people the community is!

Again thanks, this means a lot!

Ah yes. Sad it is, I discovered his un-styled letter to the masses about 12:00am this morning before bed. I do hope he gets the clarity and peace and quite he deserves. I will miss musings but I know he will return in due time. Take care Mr. Oxton.

ETM Design Solutions » Blog Archive » ‘Till We Meet Again » [...] So I was sitting in my Senior Project Development class this evening when my friend and classmate Chip Adams turned to me and said, “what’s up with joshuaink, the site is done with.” I was literally shocked to see that the site has been put on permanent hiatus. Joshuaink.com is the personal blog of a brilliant designer/developer John Oxton who is based in the Cotswolds, UK. His site rapidly became one of my favorites that I visited on a regular basis. Joshuaink.com will be missed dearly by many. To read more about John Oxton click here. To see what the others have to say try here and here. [...]
