"Minimum new 2-year wireless service plan and activation fee required to activate iPhone features, including iPod". Any of you out there who were thinking of getting the iPhone just for the iPod bits are up the proverbial creek it seems.
I don't know but it just seems crazy to think you would want to use iPhone strictly for its iPod abilities. It is "the best iPod [they've] ever made" so I can understand the desire to use it for that, but the other features like Safari and mail is what makes iPhone so cool.
The dollars are just-a-addin' up on that thar phone-thingy.
I just posted an observation I gleaned from betanews.com today. A couple that stick to mind are:
6 out of 10 want it. 1 out of 10 don't want to pay that price for it.
If you're not with Cingular now, plan on adding that $200.00 cancellation fee from your current cell carrier. Also, If you're not in a major metropolitan area, check with people you know who have Cingular to see what kind of coverage they get.
No doubt there will be an iPod revision. Eventually. I'm sure they will have to time it to ride out the success of iPhone though. Even though I'm getting an iPhone, I'd like to see some of the slick features iPhone has integrated into the iPod line.
Those who want the iPhone only for its iPod abilities should just hold their horses a couple of months, because Apple is bound to release a new version of iPod that matches the functionality and design of the iPhone. You don't really think that 1) Apple won't release a new iPod version ever or that 2) The next iPod they release will be just as dull as the previous one without any of the advanced features of the iPhone?
I agree that Apple will be releasing an updated iPod sometime soon. I wonder what tricks they will be pulling out for that, with the iPhone being so shiny feature wise.

You would think that, but I have heard a number of people say they want it jus for the iPod stuff.

That's an awful lot to pay for fancy iPod with a tiny harddrive (comparatively speaking)

I'd pay more to not have the iPod parts.
