FlickrComments,Easily integrate comments on your Flickr photo(s) into your website.

FlickrComments is a simple plugin for Habari (and soon WordPress) that allows you to pull in photo comments from Flickr and integrate them into your site. Confused? Me too. Let me try to break it down with an example.

Back in December of 2008 I wrote a quick post on Plex, my new favorite Media Center. As part of the post I took some screenshots of Plex and of course uploaded them to Flickr. I pulled the photos into my post as illustrations which is the bees knees, but I created a situation where I would have two distinct sets of comments for this content. One set on Flickr, one set on my site. This is no good.

Enter FlickrComments. By finding the Flickr id of each of the photos I used in the post, and associating them with the post, I am able to hit the Flickr API and grab all the comments for each photo and display them on my site, along side the comments people might have left on my site.

You can see the end result on the post in question. There are still some odds and ends I want to take care of, like caching and allowing you to add the comments to your blog comments sorted by date, but the plugin is stable enough for general use, so have at it.
