I'm an iPhone Developer!

At least that is what the email from Apple, Inc. said. Very funny. I am hoping to create an APP powered blogging app for Habari to begin with. Should be fun.

Leopard Commeth

Yep, it is now official. Apple will be shipping MacOS 10.5 Leopard on October 26th. I have to say that I am actually pretty excited about this release. Leopard is going to introduce some very cool new technology. I am loving my Education Discout right about now!

The post I never thought I would write

This is indeed a dark day. Today is the day that I hang up my Apple Fanboydom forever.

Don't misunderstand, I still plan on using Apple, Inc's products. They are still the best products in the business, and I am far too heavily invested in the platform to simply jump ship at this time.

No, this is about the death of idealism and the overwhelming love and devotion for what once was a vanguard company, and now seems to be nothing more than a ship of fools.

There is no excuse for the iPhone 1.1.1 update and there is no defense for the iPhone 1.1.1 update.

New Apple Store

A twitt from Jeffrey Zeldman, tipped me off to the presence of a new Apple Online Store. While I agree with Mr. Zeldman that the underlying code is a wonder to behold, I am distressed by how busy the site is. The layout is to crowded and confusing. Would a bit more whitespace hurt? Oh and Good one Jina!

Hey Look, TV out

Looks like I was right. The next iPhone update adds TV out options among other things. Man I love being right. Can't wait for this one to hit iTunes!

Ooh, the evil awakens

"Minimum new 2-year wireless service plan and activation fee required to activate iPhone features, including iPod". Any of you out there who were thinking of getting the iPhone just for the iPod bits are up the proverbial creek it seems.

YouTube on AppleTV?

That's right, apparently Apple is adding YouTube to the AppleTV in June. You can read more about it here. Very interesting.

A Greener Apple

An intersting use of word imagery for the title of this letter from CEO Steve Jobs. Imagine that, a company run by Steve Jobs is a leader in environmental issues.

Run software update

If you haven't heard, Apple released 25 patches today for various holes in their products. Update people.

Anger, seething anger

That is what I feel after having read this 'statement' from Apple Inc.'s website:

We now plan to show our developers a near final version of Leopard at the conference, give them a beta copy to take home so they can do their final testing, and ship Leopard in October. We think it will be well worth the wait. Life often presents tradeoffs, and in this case we're sure we've made the right ones. [Apr 12, 2007]

No, it is not an acceptable tradeoff to delay the release of a much anticipated major OS release so that you can make FCC deadlines for the iPhone. Has the Executive team at Apple suffered a collective blow to the head at some point this year?

The iPhone, while cool, is not more important than a major OS release. The iPod, while cool is not more important than a major OS release.

This is troubling to say the least. I thought the name change from Apple Computers to Apple Incorporated would be a good thing, reflecting the broadening of the scope of the companies endeavours. This smacks of a narrowing, the opposite of what should be happeining right now.. unless of course that narrowing is to the core of their technology offerings.

We need iCal with caldav capabilities. We need Time Machine. Artists and creative professionals need the Core Image, Core Audio and Core Video upgrades that will come with Leopard. We do not need a freaking touch screen phone.
