The good, bad and the fugly…

I was just reflecting on this blog and the many discussions that have been had over the 283 posts and counting.

When I started this whole thing back in 1999/2000 I really had no idea that it would become this much a part of mine, and many others lives.  I am beginning to see more and more the potential that this medium has to be the New Media TM, in all honesty this is the last form of free unmoderated communication that exists in this world.

I wonder if this fact has taken root in the minds of the 1 million plus active bloggers out there; if they understand the power that is at their command the ability to touch and change the views and ideologies of someone halfway around the world with a single, simple post.  The next couple of years are going to be very interesting as Big BusinessTM is beginning to awaken to the unmined dollars that exist in this phenomenon.

If we, the independent content providers can survive the commercialization of the blogoshphere.

Though it may be ‘free’ and ‘unmoderated’, my concern is that the content being shared will be unoriginal.

Despite the relative freedom that the internet provides, the attitudes, beliefs and opinions of those providing the content will be shaped by the rest of the world … .

So regardless of how unshackled and unfettered this medium is, unless bloggers are able to transcend the strictures of the rest of world, they’re still going to confine and limit themselves and the internet’s potential.

    *I swear I’m not ‘down-in-the-mouth’ all the time.* : )

Chris, your mind is an unmined wealth of coal.
Happy Birthday. I am glad to have gotten to know you, and all that you and your lovely wife do for my wife and I, may the Lord return it to you a thousandfold.

By the way, you did fine as a reader Wednesday, you and James will do fine as attendants.
