iNavigator 0.5.0
Well here is my latest effort redesigning the interface for Chimera Navigator.
There is nothing technically wrong with the present U_I, I just was tired of it, and wanted to integrate the browser more tightly with the OS. So I have converted it to the brushed metal look of the iApp line, and updated the text input fields to take advantage of the new rounded corners of Jaguar. Apart from some minor U_I tweaks here and there just to make me happier, it is the same browser.
Now I have decided to embark on a more ambitious project, namely the addition of a dock menu that mirrors the bookmarks menu and an evangelist tool showing standards compliance, as well as a preference dialog to turn the metal skin on and off.
These things will no doubt be met with scorn and derision by the devs over at the project, but I really could care less. The beuaty of opensource is that I can hack whatever I want into the code, and it doesn't neccesarily affect the actual releases. Of course I think that some of the hacks I am proposing would be beneficial to the .app, so I will check them in as patches to the tree.
who knows maybe one or two will make it into the nightlies.
Here are some pics of the U_I hack:
